Itchy fingers
Cette mélodie est une oeuvre contemporaine du Pipe Major Rab (Robert) Pinkman (1954-2012) des “King’s Own Scottish Borderers”, instructeur à la piping school des Armées.
Comme tout instructeur il a voulu laisser sa marque dans les recueils d’apprentissage en créant cette mélodie au doigté très technique d’où son nom (« la démangeaison des doigts » en français).
Mais las de l’entendre jouer à tout va, Robert Pinkman aurait affirmé lors d’un Highland Games : "j’en ai assez de cette mélodie, parfois j’aurais souhaité ne l’avoir jamais écrite."
Elle a été arrangée par le P.M. Robert Mathieson, qui l’a incluse dans son livre de partitions. D’abord jouée comme une marche puis comme un reel, cette mélodie semble avoir été définitivement cataloguée comme étant un hornpipe.
